fabric Participates in the Speaking of Vancouver Housing Possibilities Forum

Fabric news

Speaking of Vancouver is a series of community forums put on by Vancouver City Councillors Sarah Kirby-Yung, Lisa Dominato and Rebecca Bligh to provide opportunities for Vancouverites to speak up about timely and topical issues impacting our city, its residents and neighbourhoods.

Jordan MacDonald, fabric’s CEO, was honoured to be selected to participate as a panellist in the Vancouver Housing Possibilities Forum held on April 25, 2022.

fabric was eager to be a part of this important community conversation and to help explore creative ways to address housing supply and affordability in our city.

As discussed on the panel, fabric’s Assembly project is a great example of a creative housing solution that serves the community in a number of ways! Assembly features 40 market townhomes with rooftop patios surrounding a common courtyard and 10 social housing units across from Admiral Seymour Elementary School in Strathcona, East Vancouver. Offering a mix of different commercial uses from office to retail/restaurant, providing a mix of both market and social housing as well as gearing a large percentage of the project’s homes towards families are all important aspects of a development project designed to build vibrant, sustainable communities.

Assembly: Common second level courtyard with child’s play area
Assembly: Private rooftop patios on family size townhomes
Assembly: Internal mews weaving through commercial spaces
