Operation Welcome Home Initiative Houses Ukrainian Refugees at The Cut Development

Project news

Operation Welcome Home is a pilot project, a partnership between S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and the Rennie Foundation, that aims to support the settlement of refugees by temporarily housing Ukrainian arrivals in vacant homes across Metro Vancouver.

To date, Operation Welcome Home has helped to find housing for over 50 Ukrainian families displaced by the war in Ukraine and we are fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in this worthwhile initiative at the development site for The Cut, our new community of Trout Lake Townhomes + Garden Flats, ahead of construction.

Often vacant houses slated for demolition can sit in limbo for several months while going through the development process. Thanks to Operation Welcome Home, vacant homes slated for demolition and in queue for development are now being put to good use by offering immediate temporary accommodation to those in need. Under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET), S.U.C.C.E.S.S is assisting individuals and families by providing tools for housing, employment support and community integration. It is no surprise that East Vancouver has welcomed our new neighbors with open arms – we are grateful our Ukrainian arrivals will be able to enjoy the Nature of the East in peace.

S.U.C.C.E.S.S is a charitable foundation that offers a diverse range of services and programs that support health, wellness, and independence of people no matter the stage in their Canadian journey. Through S.U.C.C.E.S.S the intention is to share their stories, lend our hand, and inspire our communities and neighbourhoods to do the same.
